Sewer Line Repair in New York

Whatever leaves the building through its drains travels in the building sewer, to the public main or a septic tank. Plumbers of New York examines that pipe, mends it and replaces it. A camera enters first so the fault appears on a screen before a shovel breaks ground.

From older neighborhoods to newer developments, we work on sewer lines across New York, and what the camera shows decides what we advise.

Sewer line services

Camera inspection

Through the cleanout goes a sealed camera on a flexible cable. It films the entire line and reports its material, slipped joints, sags, roots and breaks, along with the distance to each.

Root removal

Moisture draws roots into open joints and hairline cracks, and a cutter clears them for now. They return along the same path, because the opening is still there. That is why, once the pipe is open again, we tell you whether it also needs repair.

A spot repair

If just one length has cracked or moved, we excavate and replace that piece only, leaving the remaining pipe alone.

A full replacement

A pipe that is crushed, bowed throughout or broken in many places needs a new run, from the building all the way to the tie-in.

Cleanouts

When a cleanout cap is broken or missing, soil and rainwater can enter the line. A replacement cap stops that, and a new cleanout, where none exists, lets a camera reach the line whenever it is needed.

How to tell it is the sewer line

One fixture clogging is a fixture problem. Many drains slowing together, a toilet that burbles when water drains elsewhere, a sewage smell in the yard or a patch of lawn that is wetter and greener than the rest suggest the building sewer.

Homes here are old. In New York City roughly 80 percent were built before 1980, with a median year of 1952. The sewer line age checker tells you what pipe a home from your era may have in the ground.

Is the sewer really at fault? Stoppages inside the building are the subject of our drain cleaning page, and the home page lists every other service we offer, so you can compare before you call.
