Inside walls and ceilings
The evidence varies, from a brown halo on a ceiling to bulging plaster or blistered paint over a baseboard. Each clue names a likely pipe. We follow it back, open a small hole and repair the failed section.
The bill rises and nobody can say why. You hear water but see none. A stain keeps spreading on a ceiling, or a basement wall stays damp. Plumbers of New York locates leaks within walls, floors and ceilings, under slabs and along the buried line from the street.
Our approach is to locate the leak before anything is cut. That way the repair needs only a small opening in the wall, floor or yard.

Where supply lines run in or under a concrete floor, we listen along each one with acoustic gear and test them under pressure one at a time. That narrows the search to a patch of slab.
Once the line is located, we open a small section of the slab, mend the damaged pipe and close it up with fresh concrete. That spot is the only part of the room disturbed. It suits a line that is otherwise sound.
If a line keeps failing, retire it. Its replacement runs overhead through the ceiling or inside walls, so the floor stays closed.
A lawn that stays soggy, or a meter that runs while the home is shut down, indicates the buried line. We find the break and fix that stretch.
Close every tap and stop every water-using appliance. Read the meter. A dial that creeps or a little leak star that spins tells you water is moving.
Next, shut the main valve and look again. A still meter means the loss is somewhere inside. A meter that keeps turning points outside, to the buried pipe.

When pipes in one home keep failing in turn, the repiping and water lines page lays out the next step. Our home page covers the remaining services.
Say on the call whether the meter kept turning with everything off, and describe what you saw and where, including which floor if you live in an apartment. A free, personalized quote follows.
