Lake Success's unique plumbing challenges

About 75 nights a year below freezing, when uninsulated crawlspace lines give out

The oldest blocks in town run plumbing decades older than the newer builds toward Russell Gardens

First frost typically lands around November 13

Seasonal timing

The stretch between the first frost near Nov 13 and the thaw is long enough that a small drain problem rarely stays small.

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

My upstairs tub drains slowly but the sink is fine. Why?

Slow drainage on one fixture usually points at the branch line, while a whole floor draining slowly points at the stack it feeds into. In an older house with cast iron the stack narrows over the years from scale, so the tub, which moves the most water at once, complains first.

Where is the main shutoff in an older house?

Usually in the basement on the street-facing wall, near where the service line enters, often just past the meter. Find it before you need it, and make sure the handle actually turns.

Where is my curb stop, and should I be able to use it?

It's normally a small metal cover in the lawn or near the sidewalk, and it's the shutoff between the street main and your house. It takes a long key to operate and is generally left to the water department or a plumber. Your own main shutoff inside the house is the valve to know. Homes over toward Kensington show the same thing.
