Kings Point's unique plumbing challenges

About 70 nights a year below freezing, when uninsulated crawlspace lines give out

The oldest blocks in town run plumbing decades older than the newer builds toward Great Neck

First frost typically lands around November 14

Seasonal timing

By the time the median first frost arrives near Nov 14, the coldest sections of an old stack have already started running slow.

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Should I be pouring drain cleaner into an old stack?

It's a poor match for aging cast iron, since the chemicals sit against pipe that's already thin and rarely clear a scale-narrowed line anyway. A plumber clearing it mechanically does less damage.

Do tree roots get into cast iron the way they get into clay?

They can, at any joint that has opened up or rusted through. Cast iron resists roots better than old clay tile, but a stack or lateral with failing hub joints is still an invitation.

Can a plumber see inside a cast iron stack?

Yes, with a camera run down the line, which shows scale, cracks and any belly in the horizontal sections. It's the difference between guessing at a slow drain and knowing what's causing it.

My upstairs tub drains slowly but the sink is fine. Why?

Slow drainage on one fixture usually points at the branch line, while a whole floor draining slowly points at the stack it feeds into. In an older house with cast iron the stack narrows over the years from scale, so the tub, which moves the most water at once, complains first. Homes over toward Manorhaven show the same thing.
