Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Is the sewer lateral my responsibility?

Yes, in most cases the property owner is responsible for the lateral from the building out to the sewer main. Rules differ by village, so the local water or public works office is the place to confirm it for your address.

Should I shut the water off to an unheated addition for the winter?

If nothing in that space needs water through the cold months, closing the valve that feeds it and opening the fixture to drain the line removes the risk entirely. Label the valve so the next person can find it.

Where is my main shutoff likely to be?

In most houses here it sits on the inside wall closest to the street, often near the meter in the basement. Older homes that have been added onto sometimes have a second valve buried in a closet or behind an access panel, which is worth finding on a calm day.

Why did a pipe that never froze before fail this year?

Usually something changed around it rather than in it: an insulation gap opened, a vent got added, a door was left open, or a heat source in that room was removed. Age matters less than what is around the pipe.
