Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Why does my house smell faintly of sewer in winter?

Usually a dry trap in a fixture nobody uses, or a vent that isn't drawing properly. Frost can cap a vent stack at the roof, and once that happens the odor tends to show up on the top floor first.

Where is the main shutoff in an older house?

Usually in the basement on the street-facing wall, near where the service line enters, often just past the meter. Find it before you need it, and make sure the handle actually turns.

Does old cast iron affect water quality?

Drain stacks carry waste out, so they don't touch what comes from the tap. Supply-side questions about older service lines are separate, and your water utility can tell you what material serves the street.

My upstairs tub drains slowly but the sink is fine. Why?

Slow drainage on one fixture usually points at the branch line, while a whole floor draining slowly points at the stack it feeds into. In an older house with cast iron the stack narrows over the years from scale, so the tub, which moves the most water at once, complains first. Homes over toward Fort Johnson show the same thing.
