Fairport's unique plumbing challenges

About 125 nights a year below freezing, when uninsulated crawlspace lines give out

The oldest blocks in town run plumbing decades older than the newer builds toward Penfield

First frost typically lands around October 30

Seasonal timing

February averages a low of 19 degrees, and that is the stretch when a marginally buried service line is most exposed.

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Our whole house lost pressure over the years. What causes that?

Gradual pressure loss across every fixture usually points at the supply side rather than the fixtures, and a narrowing galvanized line is a common cause. A pressure reading at an outside spigot and one at the meter will tell a plumber which side of the meter the loss is on.

Who owns the water line between the street and my house?

In most systems the homeowner owns the line from the curb stop into the house, and the utility owns what sits on the street side of it. That split is why a leak in the yard is usually the property owner's problem to solve, and it matters near Pittsford the same way it does here.

Why does my water pressure vary between the kitchen and upstairs?

A difference between floors is often just elevation, but a large difference alongside slow fill everywhere usually means the supply line itself is restricted. Old galvanized branches inside the walls do the same thing on a smaller scale.

Is the sewer lateral my responsibility too?

Generally yes, from the house out to the main, and in older neighborhoods that lateral is often clay or cast iron with roots in the joints. A camera inspection is the normal way to find out what shape it is in before it backs up.
