Delevan's unique plumbing challenges

About 142 nights a year below freezing, when uninsulated crawlspace lines give out

The oldest blocks in town run plumbing decades older than the newer builds toward Freedom

First frost typically lands around October 18

Seasonal timing

February lows average 16 degrees, close enough to January that a basement pipe gets no recovery time between cold spells.

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

How do I know what my supply pipes are made of?

The exposed sections under the floor tell the story: dull grey threaded pipe is galvanized, copper is unmistakable, and flexible plastic is newer work. Mixed materials in one basement are normal in a house that has been repaired piecemeal.

Is a sewer lateral my responsibility too?

In most cases the lateral from the house to the main is the homeowner's, including the portion under the yard. Roots and old clay joints cause more trouble than cold does on that side of the system.

What is the knocking sound in the floor when a tap closes?

Water hammer, most likely. A supply line with room to shift in the basement slams against the framing when a valve shuts quickly, and the fix is usually mechanical rather than a pressure change.

Everything under the floor feels freezing. Is that normal?

It's common in an unheated basement, though it does mark the runs most likely to give trouble. A plumber can tell you which of those lines actually sits at risk and which are simply cool.
