Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

What is the expansion tank above my water heater for?

It gives heated water somewhere to expand once a check valve or regulator closes the system off from the street. When the tank loses its air charge, that expansion has nowhere to go and pressure spikes every time the burner or element runs. A tank that feels heavy at the bottom is usually waterlogged and done.

Where is my main shutoff likely to be?

In a home with a basement it is usually on the wall facing the street, right where the service line comes through, often within a few feet of the meter. Crawlspace homes sometimes have it under the floor near the front. Find it before you need it, and make sure the handle actually turns.

Is a leak under the slab or in the wall covered by insurance?

It depends on the policy and on what caused the failure, so contact your insurance provider before assuming either way. Many policies treat sudden failures differently from slow seepage. Keep photographs and any paperwork from the visit, since carriers usually want to see what was found and what was done.

Why do my faucets bang when the washing machine stops?

That's water hammer, and high static pressure makes it far worse than it would otherwise be. The moving water has to stop suddenly and the shock travels back through the supply lines. Lowering pressure to a normal setting and adding arrestors at the appliance usually settles it.
